About Rwanda
Welcome to Le Pays des Milles Collines) (Land of a Thousand Hills).

Rwanda is a landlocked country situated on the eastern rim of the Albertine Rift which is on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley in Eastern Africa. Much of the country is attractively mountainous, the highest peak being 4500 metres/14,600 feet. It is known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”, an apt description as it consists of green undulating hills with gardens and tea plantations dotted around them.

What is important is that it is home to one third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, one third of Africa’s bird species and several other species of primates.
The capital is Kigali, an attractive city sprawling across four mountain ridges and the valleys between.
