Day 4: Amboseli – Maasai Mara |
After a sumptuous breakfast at your Camp, you will be transferred to the airstrip to catch your flight to Nairobi. The flight departs at about 0810hrs, arriving Nairobi at 0840hrs. Upon arrival, you will connect on a flight to the Maasai Mara game reserve, which departs at 1000hrs and arrives at about 1100hrs. At the Mara airstrip, you will be picked up and as you have game drives en-route, you will arrive at the Camp for check-in and lunch.
Enjoy a restful afternoon, before embarking on an evening game drive.
Scenically, the Mara epitomizes the Africa of childhood imaginings: the lone Acacia tree against the cobalt sky, rolling plains that positively heave with life, the sluggish curves of the Mara River choc-a-bloc with hippo and crocs and the odd red “shuka” of a Maasai herdsman who carry on their normal pace of life, largely oblivious of all the commotion around them, mingling almost freely with the wildlife. This great reserve is famous for the Big Five of Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino. You will definitely see the fastest animal on earth; the cheetah and the fastest bird on the ground, the common Ostrich among plenty of bird species; over 470 recorded species.
Enjoy the afternoon game viewing, then later dinner and overnight at the Camp.
